People’s Park Tower Net Zero Initiative - Moncton, NB
People’s Park Tower is an assisted living facility housing 325 seniors in a 7-story building. The building is in a central location near a natural park and all necessary amenities. The building offers meal service, nursing service, housekeeping, and laundry service.
The building was built in the 80s, and its energy consumption is significantly high.
The goal is to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through a deep renovation.
Low Energy Measures
Mechanical Design was completed by Tweedie and Associates in Moncton, and the detailed drawings were completed by Artech Drafting. Newco Construction provided knowledge in the constructability of all measures below:
Brick siding will be replaced with insulated metal panels
Windows and doors will be replaced with energy-rated products
HRV systems will be added in each unit
A sprinkler system will be installed to enhance the fire protection of the building
Confirmed Project Funding & Capital Funding Approval
PPT Net Xero has been approved:
$130 000 Pre-Development Funds through CMHC CGAH Fund
$224 000 Pre-Development Funds through FCM Study Grant
CMHC has approved Capital Funding, and due diligence is in progress.
